Rural community sustainability projects. Through wood fired ovens and community gardens, these projects will enable smaller local communities to be able to feed their own children and elderly without relying on aide from outside.
One of our partner churches has begun work in 2 small communities that are 10-15km from town. The children in these communities come to school hungry every day and the community has a difficult time getting to town to purchase bread and food. In addition, we are looking at 5 other rural communities in South Africa, Swaziland and Mozambique for community kitchens, however funding is required to begin discipleship and Phase 1.
Mvumbi Culinary School - A partnership with the highly rated Yalla Yalla Guesthouse in Witbank to educate and empower local young adults by giving them “hands-on” training learning culinary arts and hospitality. Our community and the surrounding area has a large tourism industry and there are available jobs for those skilled in this area.
We were blessed to send one local community lady to a week of training at Yalla Yalla (see the photos). Her dream is to own her own catering business. This week of training opened her eyes to a new culinary world.
